PSR-36

Yamaha's 61-key FM electronic keyboard released in 1988, with PCM sampling rhythm and voice editing support. After this, Yamaha's electronic keyboard began to turn to the en:yamaha:tech:dass sound sound generator system.

Please note that PSR-36 is often misrepresented on the Internet as an FM sound source chip using 4operator, in fact, its sound source chip YM3420 has only 2operator.

The PCM drum voices of the PSR36 are provided by the YM3419 chip, and this 3420+3419 combination scheme is also used on the PSS-580/680/780. Entering the era of en:yamaha:tech:dass, YM3419 continues to be used as the rhythm chip of PSR37/47/38/48.
